Metro Atlanta has so many things to do every weekend, and this list is only a fraction of the events that occur in and around our incredible city. I love Atlanta and hope you do, too! The real estate market is hot right now. If you are considering buying or selling a home, now is the time of year to act! Real estate is truly my passion; call me today to find out how my marketing and local and global connections can help you buy or sell a home.

The Atlanta Film Festival is one of the region’s largest and longest-running preeminent celebrations of cinema in the Southeastern United States. More than 25,000 festival attendees enjoy independent, animated, documentary, and short films each year.

The Dogwood Festival has evolved into one of the largest events in the Southeast. You’ll find the country’s best painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelry makers and glass blowers, as well as live performance art exhibitions, interactive music workshops and a food festival.

Join hundreds of colorfully-clad characters for a medieval European Country Faire. Feast on hearty food and drink, shop for hand-crafted treasures and become mesmerized by artisans at work. Ten stages of music and comedy, performing animals and games ensure fun for the entire family!

Widely regarded as Atlanta’s most spirited and eclectic event, the Inman Park Festival boasts a weekend of family fun. Atlanta’s biggest street market, the city’s quirkiest parade, a juried art show, live entertainment and dance festival are just a few of the things you’ll find.

Celebrate Earth Day with the Atlanta-based brewery’s annual festival in Centennial Olympic Park! Enjoy live music, an artist market, comedy tent and 5K race, all while safely enjoying the best of Sweetwater’s beverages.

The annual Caribbean Carnival continues to offer even more music and marvels. Kick off this Memorial Day weekend with Mas and Music – a celebration of Caribbean culture, cuisine and costumes. Festival highlights include the annual parade of bands through downtown, an artist market and tons of dance demos.

Shaky Knees Music Festival features more than 30 bands, comprised of national, regional and local favorites, over two days at Centennial Olympic Park in Downtown. In addition to a stellar musical lineup, the festival includes food trucks, artisans and more.

Shaky Beats Music Festival hosts over 30 international touring DJs’ dropping their latest EDM tracks for three days at Centennial Olympic Park in Downtown. In addition to a brilliant lineup, the festival includes food trucks, photo booths, and more.

Located at beautiful Chastain Park, the Buckhead Spring Arts & Crafts Festival features more than 175 artists and artisans, live music, activities for children and much more.

Celebrating more than 40 years of soulful expression, the Atlanta Jazz Festival is the perfect way to start your Memorial Day weekend. Explore Piedmont Park and visit vendors displaying some of the city’s finest arts and crafts, food and drink and merchandise.

The Decatur Arts Festival celebrates culture, community and creativity with a weekend exploding with artistic expressions. The weekend starts with the ArtWalk, where local shops host free receptions for new art shows. You’ll also find music, performance art, dancing and special events just for kids and teens.

Sweet Auburn Springfest is a celebration of more than 25 years of great festivals on Auburn Avenue. Live entertainment, Southern hospitality and tons of activities are just a few sweet things you’ll find.

You can find additional details about these and other Atlanta festivals on the official Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) website.

Going Above & Beyond

Here’s a quick example of how dedicated I am to helping my clients find a home they truly love!

My client was in LOVE with a particular community, that unfortunately, had very few to no listings. So, I made up these cards, hand addressed 75 envelopes and mailed one to every single home. We were under contract in less than 3 days!! If you’re looking for a REALTOR who will go above and beyond for you, I’m your girl!

2017 | An Extraordinary Year

My business relies on my clients, friends and family for your support and referrals. I hope to continue serving you and your real estate needs in 2018. Happy New Year and best wishes!

The Grinch in Residence at Ponce City Market

Don’t forget! The Grinch will make his way back to Ponce City Market with great fanfare, taking up residency each and every Saturday and Sunday through December 18th. Popcorn! Bicycles! Roller skates! Drums! The Grinch will be in his hip in-town lair on the second floor alcove above the Central Food Hall. Your family is invited to take pictures and engage with the green furry one.

Starting at 10am each weekend, The Grinch parades in with the Who-ligans. He will be seated in his sleigh throne until 8pm; pay him a visit, take a photo, and share it with #PCMMerryAndBright to help grow his small heart three sizes.

How does USPS Informed Delivery work?

I recently learned about a new service from the US Postal service. While you are putting in your change of address for your beautiful new home, be sure to sign up for Informed Delivery and you will get an e-mail containing ALL of your inbound mail – including packages. Letters are SCANNED and pictures sent directly to your inbox before they physically arrive!

What used to be “My USPS®” was recently upgraded to include Informed Delivery® – a new totally free feature that gives you the ability to see a digital preview of your incoming mail. Informed Delivery allows you to view images of the exterior, address side of your household’s “letter-sized” mailpieces on a computer, tablet, or mobile device. As part of the upgrade, you can receive a daily email containing images of your mailpieces that are arriving soon. AND, if you are expecting a package that has delivery tracking information from a sender such as Amazon or other retailer, then you can get an email that tells you every step of the package’s journey:

So How Does USPS Informed Delivery Work?

  1. Consumer Signs Up – Consumers sign up on usps.com where their email address and identity is verified. If you already have an account, it takes less than a minute.
  2. Mail is Imaged During Processing – Mail is sent. USPS uses existing processes to gather digital images of the exterior of letter-sized mailpieces that are processed through automation equipment.
  3. Image Matched to Delivery Points – USPS automatically matches mailpiece
images to Informed Delivery users. Interactive campaigns are applied at this
step (this is ambitious revenue play, but it’s always free to you).
  4. Notification emailed to user – USPS notifies Informed Delivery users of mail arriving soon in an email, dashboard, or mobile app view.
  5. User receives mailpiece – USPS delivers physical mailpieces through regular delivery as usual.

Just like a physical mailbox, Informed Delivery is provided at a household level, based on a delivery point address, but multiple residents can sign up for the feature.

A feature just launched, but not seen in the wild yet is Interactive Promotions. If the original Mailer (aka Sender) has opted to tie in a promotion, USPS inserts an unobtrusive clickable box below the scanned mailpiece like this:

Here’s a detailed explainer from the Post Office that discusses interactive campaigns for mailers:

This particular presentation is actually a high-level sales pitch about how to produce effective Mailing Campaigns, but there is no reason why consumers can’t benefit from this completely FREE service.

You can cancel at any time, so it is in their best interest to keep this new service helpful and non-annoying.

Please let me know in the comment if you found this helpful, if you like the service, and if you have any other tips and tricks for dealing with the post office!

Homebuyer’s Workshop

Last Thursday I hosted my second bi-annual Homebuyer’s Workshop, along with one of mortgage partners, Capital City Mortgage.

This event helps de-mystify the home buying process and gives first-time home buyers the opportunity to ask specific questions to some of Atlanta’s leading mortgage and market experts. It was a big success, with everyone in attendance receiving a free credit report and consultation from Capital City, the Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International RealtyOfficial Buyer’s Guide, and in the spirit of Halloween, a bottle of Boos!

Meet Local Atlanta REALTOR®, Allison Jackson

Here you can find anything and everything about buying or selling a home in the Metro Atlanta area. We all have dreams, and they are as vast and varied as the world is wide. But they all start with inspiration, and inspiration starts with your surroundings. That’s what home is. Family. Friends.
